Truckee Chamber Business Listening Tour

In the fall of 2024, the Truckee Chamber of Commerce embarked on a comprehensive Business Listening Tour to engage directly with businesses across the Truckee community. The primary goal of this initiative was to gain a deeper understanding of the economic barriers and successes businesses encounter, as well as to identify their specific needs and expectations from the Chamber. Through active listening and dialogue, the Chamber aimed to foster a more inclusive and responsive organization that effectively supports and advocates for the diverse businesses within our community.
The tour involved interviewing approximately 30 diverse businesses, including both Chamber members and non-members, to gather a broad range of perspectives. The insights collected during these anonymous interviews are crucial for directing future programming, informing membership benefits, and shaping the Chamber's economic and workforce development programs.
Key areas of discussion during the listening tour included
Economic Challenges and Successes: Identifying the biggest economic hurdles and recent positive developments.
Regulations and Financial Support: Understanding how policies and financial resources impact business growth.
Recruitment and Retention: Exploring challenges and effective strategies for attracting and keeping qualified employees.
Training and Development: Determining the types of training programs that would benefit the local workforce.
Future Workforce Needs: Anticipating workforce demands over the next 3-5 years and how the Chamber can provide support.
Chamber Collaboration and Support: Gathering input on specific initiatives and advocacy priorities.
The findings from the 2024 Business Listening Tour will help shape the Truckee Chamber's advocacy efforts, programming, and strategic initiatives moving forward.
