Through the diligent work of the Government Action Committee (GAC), the Chamber actively engages with local, regional, and state government levels. The GAC meets monthly to discuss upcoming issues, take positions on legislation, and gather updates from elected officials.

Additionally, the Chamber advocates for policies that enhance the quality of life in Truckee, such as affordable housing, safe neighborhoods, and access to quality education and healthcare.

The Chamber works collaboratively with elected officials, government agencies, and community stakeholders to shape public policies and regulations. They provide recommendations to the Board of Directors and communicate vital issues to their membership, encouraging action when necessary.

The Chamber's advocacy policy outlines a clear process for members to request advocacy on issues affecting the business community, ensuring a consensus-driven approach. In our next meeting, we will be updating the Truckee Chamber Public Policy Platform for 2026.

In addition to the Chamber’s advocacy efforts we are invested in helping our community members engage in our democratic process. During election years the Truckee Chamber in partnership with the Contractors Association of Truckee Tahoe puts on two How to Run for Office Workshops. We also create a Truckee Voter Guide and produce regional Candidate Forums.
