Recap: June Networking Mixer at Tahoe Star Hotel

We had such a great time at the Truckee Chamber of Commerce June Networking Mixer at the Tahoe Star Hotel yesterday! More than 40 members stopped in to enjoy delicious appetizers, wine, and to tour the beautifully renovated historic hotel. Owners David and Desiree Vaille and manager Shannon Clapper were great hosts, offering information about each unique room in this boutique downtown hotel, a block from the Truckee River. It was a beautiful evening - many enjoyed talking on the huge wraparound porch of the hotel.

David talked about the rich history of the hotel, which was originally built in the 1870s by early settler and timberman George Schaffer. The hotel first housed Schaffer's family and then later mill workers. When remodeling the hotel, David tried to retain original pieces, such as doors, and took care to match what he was replacing with new materials. He also talked about the hardships that they encountered trying to open the hotel two years ago, during the pandemic. Fortunately, they were able to hold on to their original vision and still open this year.
