NV Energy CANCELLED Planned Power Outage for Sunday

NV Energy 48-24 Hour PSOM Alert
UPDATE: Power Outage was cancelled due to a change in the forecast.
Due to extreme fire danger, Wildfire Safety Outage scheduled for Sunday, September 19th at 4:00 am. Forecast to last 1-2 days
Truckee, Calif. (September 16, 2021) – The Truckee Donner Public Utility District (TDPUD) has received notification from NV Energy of a potential Public Safety Outage Management (PSOM) wildfire safety outage. Extreme weather conditions and high fire danger are forecast in the greater Truckee area. NV Energy has a planned PSOM to de-energize transmission lines that serve electricity to the greater Truckee area. This will result in a local power outage that will impact all TDPUD customers which is forecast to start on Sunday, September 19th at 4:00 am and last for a period of 1-2 days.

If there is a PSOM wildfire safety power outage, power will remain off until NV Energy determines that the extreme fire danger has passed, at which point they must visually inspect their transmission system to safely re-energize. NV Energy re-energization could take up to 24 hours. TDPUD must also visually inspect 100% of our overhead electric system in order to safely restore power with substantial re-energization within 12-hours of when NV Energy restores power. TDPUD's website (tdpud.org) is the best source for up-to-date information during an outage or emergency.
