Helping Tahoe Families Protect What Matters Most

Elaine Andrews has spent more than three decades helping families protect their futures through thoughtful estate planning and trusted legal guidance. She began her legal career in estate planning in 1992 and founded The Andrews Law Firm in Petaluma, California just two years later. In 2010, Elaine relocated her practice to Truckee, bringing her expertise to the Tahoe region while continuing to serve clients across Northern California, including the Central Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area.

At the heart of Elaine’s work is her philosophy of “Bulletproof Estate Planning.” Her commitment to this approach was sparked by a deeply troubling case in which a client was wrongfully conserved, resulting in the complete loss of their estate. Witnessing how vulnerable families can be without proper legal protections inspired Elaine to focus on helping clients build strong, proactive estate plans that safeguard their assets and wishes.

In 2015 Elaine became a State Bar of California Certified Specialists in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law. In 2016, Elaine authored the book Fifty Excuses (Not) to do Bulletproof Estate Planning (Excuses that Just Might Cost You Everything), designed to educate individuals and families about the importance of preparing for the future and avoiding common estate planning mistakes.

Today, the Andrews Law Firm provides comprehensive legal services in Estate Planning, Trust Administration, and Probate Law, guiding families through some of life’s most important transitions with clarity and care. Supporting Elaine in this work is Associate Attorney Kenneth D. Meyer, who brings a strong background in estate planning and trust work and a smooth South African accent, to boot. Kenneth works closely with Elaine to help them understand their options and make informed decisions about their assets and legacy.

Kenneth was recently admitted into the California Bar. Prior to moving to the United States, he practiced as an Associate Attorney in South Africa with C and A Friedlander, working in the Commercial and Construction Litigation Departments. He holds a Bachelor of Laws from Stellenbosch University and is admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.

The firm recently celebrated another milestone with the purchase of a new office building in Brickelltown - downtown Truckee, at 10270 Donner Pass Road, located in a beautiful restored historic building that reflects the character and heritage of the community.
