Cross Country Skiing

Cross-country skiing is truly an exhilarating and rewarding way to explore the mountains. Classic skiing is beginner friendly and a cost-effective new adventure. Not only for beginners, Truckee is also known for some of the best xc trails and grooming in the west and beyond. Our crown jewels, Tahoe Donner, recently named #6 XC Center in the U.S. by USA Today, and its nearby neighbor Royal Gorge, which offers more terrain than anyone in North America, provide a great workout or a low-key way to ditch the crowds and enjoy the sunshine. If you’re new to the sport you can find lessons and rentals through Tahoe Donner or Royal Gorge, or rentals alone at local shops like Paco’s, Tahoe Sports Hub, Truckee Winter Sports, and Tahoe Mountain Sports.
