Years in Truckee Area

Why the Truckee Area?
My wife Anne and I wanted to move to a mountain town like Truckee from a very young age. Despite temptations from our many friends who lived in Truckee and on Donner Summit, we both decided early on to invest in an education and career experience first. I’m glad we did. The right time came in 2006 when U.C. Davis built a new satellite research facility at Tahoe and Anne was able to transfer there full-time. Truckee was a little closer to good rock climbing than other spots around the lake, and we already had a strong group of friends here, so it was a natural community to settle into.
Let’s face it, I’m an artist…I’ll never stop working…even if I could. When I moved here, I felt like it was a dream come true. I recently opened an art gallery in downtown Truckee and have been investing a lot of time and money into the new business. I make less now than I have at any time in the last 20 years. But in spite of that, I can work and do the outdoor activities that I love on a daily basis. I get my retirement on the installment plan. That’s a Big Life to me.
