The Mountain Housing Council conducted its 2019 annual community meeting housing update on Saturday, April 27, 2019. Over 120 community members enjoyed an inspirational morning at the North Tahoe Event Center for the third annual regional housing update event. The theme of building vibrant, walkable communities wove through presentations and discussions, highlighting how beautiful, affordable, and necessary density can be for our region’s long term health.

On October 30, Nevada County and USDA Rural Development teamed up to host a workshop in Grass Valley to discuss financial program opportunities available to Truckee and North Tahoe residents. The workshop introduced attendees to opportunities like single family housing direct home loans, guaranteed loans, and housing repair loans as well as grants for very-low to moderate income homebuyers and homeowners living in rural communities.

Establishing relationships with either individual property owners, or a property management business, those employers lease properties and then sub-lease to their employees. By taking on fiscal responsibility and guaranteeing that the homes will be well maintained, employers can secure housing that may not have otherwise been part of the long-term rental market.
