When planning your Truckee lodging, you’ll want to keep a couple factors in mind: proximity to the resort you’re planning to ski or ride, price point, and perhaps most importantly—availability. Holiday weekends (and really the entire winter season in general) book fast, so it’s important to reserve your stay as soon as you know the dates you’ll be traveling. Better yet, try a Sunday-Thursday stay and get the best rates; check out this map of Truckee with all hotels and lodges.

Here are a few of my favorite spots around town that I always recommend to friends and family visiting the area.

EAST END of TRUCKEE

On or near 267, towards Northstar California

Hampton Inn & Suites Tahoe-Truckee

Conveniently located near the Truckee Airport and just minutes away from Northstar and other resorts in the area, the Hampton is a wonderful choice for your Truckee stay. Enjoy an outdoor pool, close proximity to many golf resorts in the summertime, and a complimentary hot breakfast daily. If you’re visiting Truckee for business, make use of the large conference room, which can accommodate up to 60 people.

This newly remodeled Best Western has a wonderful location off Brockway and conveniently close to ski resorts and Historic Downtown Truckee. You’ll find great deals, clean rooms and easy access to the freeway. Enjoy a dinner at nearby Drunken Monkey or FiftyFifty and walk straight to your room after. The best part? A free hot breakfast daily which will save you time as you’re strapping the kids into their snow gear and trying to get out the door for first chair!

Cedar House Sport Hotel

A gorgeous lodge that also hosts weddings, the Cedar House Sport Hotel evokes a strikingly true feeling; a genuine sentiment that speaks directly to the heart of Tahoe. Their vision is to provide a mountain adventure that will exceed every expectation. With an array of local activities available with an onsite Adventure Concierge to help coordinate, as well as a lively Events Calendar, allow Cedar House to help you craft the perfect winter getaway.

HISTORIC DOWNTOWN

Heart of Truckee, near Train Depot

The Truckee Hotel

Established in 1873, this gorgeous hotel quietly sits in Historic Downtown Truckee across from Bar of America. Ask for a history of the building and make sure to check out the spooky message scrawled onto the original mirror still hanging on the stairwell. The Truckee Hotel is walking distance from many shops and restaurants, and minutes away from several world-class ski resorts. With the right amount of specialty cocktails at Moody’s Bistro Bar & Beats downstairs, you’ll sleep right through the train rumbles during the night!

River Street Inn

Ok so it’s true. Charley Chaplin was filmed on the premises, decades ago. Built in 1882, this bed and breakfast overlooks the Truckee River with the only true riverfront dining in Truckee! Offering a full bar and BBQ style menu, meats are smoked daily on an authentic Texas smoker. Be ready to hear the train all night long as you’re literally yards from the train track. Walkability to downtown shops and cuisine is a 10 out of 10!memlogo_river-street-inn-logo_010616-034423
